The Birmingham City School District has seen a steady decline of students from a peak of about 75,000 to only about 25,000 now. It’s no secret many families with school-aged children left the school system through the years, often moving to suburban districts that are seen as having better schools. Crew of fatal US military crash included Alabama father recently deployed

The six U.S. service members who died in the crash of a U.S. military refueling aircraft included an Alabama father who had just been promoted and deployed. The U.S. government released the identities of the deceased service members Saturday.
